Molecular BEC paper in Highlights 2007 of Journal of Physics B

7th February 2008

Journal of Physics B (http://www.iop.org/journals/jphysb) publishes papers across a wide range of atomic, molecular and optical physics. The Editorial Board has recently selected a number of papers in the list of "that best represent the quality and breadth of research published in J Phys B".

The paper "Molecular Bose-Einstein condensation in a versatile low power crossed dipole trap" by J Fuchs, G J Duffy, G Veeravalli, P Dyke, M Bartenstein, C J Vale, P Hannaford and W J Rowlands (Swinburne node of ACQAO) has been selected as one of the Highlight Papers for 2007. The selected papers are freely available from the J Phys B website throughout 2008.

In situ absorption images of a trapped molecular Bose-Einstein Condensate (MBEC) and degenerate Fermi gas (DFG), in identical crossed dipole traps following (a) evaporation at 770 G (imaging at 694 G) and (b) evaporation and imaging at 1100 G. The difference between a MBEC and a DFG is clearly evident in the density and size of the clouds.
